The village of San Germano Chisone is situated on the right orographic side where the valley, after the gorge of Malanaggio, becomes large and open.. The town centre is placed on a modest hill and it is fanwise sorrounded by many villages on the nearby mountains.
The town was named after the Saint Germano, bishop of Auxerre, to whom the central catholic church was consecrated.
The surface is mainly on a hill and mountain ground with large woods while pasture land is particularly found in the southern part near the Chisone river.
